How Much Does SEO Cost in Nepal? Honest Pricing and What You Actually Get

Quick answer: in 2026, SEO in Nepal costs roughly NPR 15,000–40,000/month for a small-business retainer, NPR 40,000–1,00,000+/month in competitive industries, and NPR 15,000–50,000 one-off for a technical SEO audit with fixes. The price alone tells you little, though — what matters is which of the four SEO jobs the money actually buys. This guide breaks down real pricing, what you should get at each level, and the scams that burn Nepali businesses every month.

I'm Aryan Pariyar — a developer who does engineering-led SEO, meaning I fix rankings at the code level, not with monthly PDF reports. That bias is worth knowing as you read; I'll be fair to the other approaches anyway.

SEO pricing in Nepal: the 2026 table

ServiceTypical price (NPR)What it should include
Technical SEO audit + fixes (one-off)15,000 – 50,000Full crawl, speed/Core Web Vitals fixes, schema, indexing, Search Console setup
Small business retainer15,000 – 40,000 / monthOn-page work, content optimization, local SEO, monthly reporting with actions
Competitive industry retainer40,000 – 1,00,000+ / monthEverything above + content production + authority building
Content writing (per article)3,000 – 15,000Researched, keyword-targeted article — not AI paste
Local SEO setup10,000 – 25,000 one-offGoogle Business Profile, citations, review strategy, local schema

What SEO money actually buys: the four jobs

1. Technical SEO — the foundation

Speed, crawlability, indexing, schema markup, Core Web Vitals. If this layer is broken, everything else underperforms — Google can't rank what it can't crawl quickly. It's also the most measurable: run your site through my free Website Speed Checker right now and you'll see part of your technical report. Slow sites should start here; my post on why websites in Nepal are slow covers the usual offenders.

2. On-page SEO — saying what you rank for

Unique titles and descriptions per page (check yours with the meta tag generator), heading structure, internal linking, and content that actually answers the searcher. Cheap and high-impact — this should be in every retainer.

3. Content — the compounding asset

Pages and articles targeting what your customers search. This is where most long-term rankings come from, and where most cheap SEO fails: NPR 10,000/month cannot fund research, writing and optimization of real content. Thin AI-spun articles don't rank in 2026 — Google's helpful content systems filter them.

Earned mentions from real sites. Slow, hard to fake safely, and the area with the most snake oil — bought link packages from spam networks can earn penalties that cost more to fix than the SEO ever cost.

The SEO scams to walk away from

  • "Guaranteed #1 on Google." Nobody controls Google. Guarantees signal either a worthless keyword or a lie.
  • "Page one in 30 days." Real SEO takes 3–6 months minimum for competitive terms.
  • Secret methods. Legitimate SEO survives full transparency; "proprietary techniques" that can't be explained are usually link spam.
  • Reports without actions. A monthly PDF of rankings is measurement, not work. Ask: what did you change this month?
  • 1,000 backlinks for $50. That's a penalty subscription, not a service.

How long does SEO take? (honest timeline)

TimeframeWhat realistically happens
Month 1Audit, technical fixes, quick wins — speed improvements can register within weeks
Months 2–3Content and on-page work indexed; long-tail keywords start moving
Months 4–6Meaningful traffic growth on realistic targets; local terms often ranking
Months 6–12Competitive keywords contested; content library compounding

This is also why month-to-month judgement kills SEO: pay for three months minimum before evaluating, but demand visible work — not just reports — from week one.

DIY vs hiring: the practical split

Do yourself: Google Business Profile, review collection, sensible page titles, publishing genuinely helpful content, and free tooling — my tools page covers speed testing, meta tags and more at zero cost. Hire out: the technical layer (Core Web Vitals, schema, crawl issues are developer work) and content strategy if writing isn't your strength. For many small Nepali businesses the smart move is a one-off technical foundation fix (NPR 15,000–50,000) plus DIY content, upgrading to a retainer only when the numbers justify it. Website being rebuilt anyway? Get SEO built in from day one — it's cheaper than retrofitting, as I explain in the website cost guide.

How I price SEO

My technical SEO service is scoped, not subscription-first: a one-off audit and code-level fix package for most sites, ongoing optimization only where the competition demands it. Every engagement starts with a free audit — send your URL and within 24 hours you'll know exactly what's holding your site back and what fixing it costs. No lock-in, no mystery reports.

Frequently asked questions

Why is SEO in Nepal cheaper than international rates?

Lower labour costs and (often) less competitive keywords. The work is the same discipline — which is why Nepali SEO talent also serves foreign clients at rates that undercut Western agencies while paying well locally.

SEO or Google/Facebook ads — which first?

Ads buy traffic instantly and stop when you stop paying; SEO compounds slowly and keeps paying. Cash-flow-driven businesses often run ads while SEO matures, then taper ads as organic grows. Either way, both convert better on a fast site — fix that first.

Does a new website need SEO immediately?

It needs technical SEO from birth — structure, speed, schema, Search Console. Content and authority build after launch. Skipping the foundation to "add SEO later" is the most expensive sequencing mistake I see.

What results can you show?

Client sites reaching 90+ PageSpeed scores and page-one rankings for their service keywords — some are in my portfolio. I'll happily walk through specifics on a call.

SEO pricing only feels confusing until you know what the four jobs are and which ones you're buying. Now you do. Get your free audit and see what your site actually needs.
